Michael Sharmon is originally from Australia and has worked in the worlds of Television, Film and
Theatre. Michael has written two original musicals, “Auditions” which was performed at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival and “Arabian Dreams” which had it’s premiere in Hong Kong in
September 2018. He also wrote the play “Lions, Typhoons and Judy, Oh My!” About the life of Judy
Garland. Michael studied Dance under Tony Bartuccio, one of Australia’s foremost Choreographers,
and then Drama for Stage and Screen at the NSW Conservatorium, graduating in 2007. He
also studied scriptwriting at The University of East Anglia and in 2016, he
was selected as the Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connections emerging director. Part of the
experience included traveling to the UK in 2016, to further his studies as a director at LAMDA; and
then returning to Hong Kong to direct “Jane Eyre”. He has since directed productions of Theseus
and the Minotaur and The Secret Garden. Michael has worked at both International and local
Schools all over Hong Kong including Kennedy School, DGJS and KGV.
On stage he has performed the roles of Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Bob Cratchit in
“A Christmas Carol and Javert in Les Miserables. Last year he also took part in Starlit Voice’s
production of “Timeless”. Recently Michael performed with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong
Kong in their Annual
performance of the Snowman and the Bear.
